So, you’re thinking about popping the big question, huh? And not just anywhere, but at Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona! If you ask me, that’s one of the most breathtaking spots to propose—seriously, it’s like something straight out of a dream. Let’s chat about how to make this moment unforgettable.
Why Horseshoe Bend?
First off, if you haven't seen Horseshoe Bend in person, you're in for a treat. The view is jaw-dropping, with the Colorado River winding around in a perfect horseshoe shape. It’s like Mother Nature’s way of saying, “Here’s your romantic backdrop, you’re welcome!” The sheer cliffs, the vibrant colors, and the vast sky make it an epic spot for a proposal.
Planning the Perfect Moment
Timing is Everything: If you want that golden glow for your photos (and trust me, you do), aim for a sunrise or sunset proposal. The light is softer, and the colors of the canyon are absolutely magical. Plus, sunrise might give you a bit more privacy since it's less crowded.

Scout the Location: Horseshoe Bend is popular, so scope out the area beforehand if you can. Find a spot that feels right—maybe a little off to the side where you can have a more intimate moment. Also, be aware of safety; those cliffs are beautiful but steep!
Sometimes going to find your perfect location is not alway easy so do since you don't want to tip of your partner. To help solve this problem I have scouted out the perfect location and a back up location. If you book with me ill help guide you to your perfect spot!
The Ring: Make sure you’ve got that sparkler securely stashed! You don’t want it rolling into the canyon (can you imagine?!). A ring box that isn’t bulky and can be easily hidden is a good idea.
Some people bring a back pack to keep the ring or some people keep it in there socks! Discretion is advised if you put it in your socks as you do have to walk 30 minutes in get the the actually edge of the canyon.
Photographer: As a photographer, I can't stress enough how wonderful it is to capture this moment. Consider hiring a local photographer who knows the area. They can blend in with the tourists and capture the moment without being intrusive.
Now you might find that its hard to find someone from Page but there are a handful of photographers like me who live in Flagstaff but will come to horseshoe bend just for you!
The Proposal Speech: You don’t have to recite a Shakespearean sonnet, but think about what you want to say. Something heartfelt, something that speaks to your journey together. It’s your moment—make it special.
Weather Check: Arizona weather can be unpredictable, especially around the bend. Check the forecast, and have a plan B (like an indoor spot or another scenic location nearby) just in case. If you plans do change make sure to inform your photographer and make sure you get permission for your photographer to be there in plan b. Nothing would be worse than your photographer getting kicked out because of a lack of communication!
The Big Day
When the day comes, try to stay calm and enjoy the moment. It’s easy to get caught up in nerves, but remember, this is about celebrating your love story. When you get to the spot, take a deep breath, enjoy the view, and then... go for it! That moment when they realize what's happening—pure magic.
Afterward, take some time to soak it all in. Maybe bring a little picnic or a bottle of champagne to celebrate. And, of course, get those perfect shots to remember the day!
